From the Executive Director Bill Martin…
Eleanor Roosevelt is quoted as saying… ”The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Peterborough Paramedics & Beyond began with a dream, a dream to be able to travel with a small medical team, composed of paramedics/nurses and a doctor, to assist NGO’s in areas of the world who needed the medical help we could provide. Our dream became reality in 2018 with a trip planned to Grand Goave in Haiti with Hope Grows. Little did we know the violence that would erupt shortly thereafter and a week before we planned to leave on February 20, 2019 a decision was made to cancel our trip. The dream remained active as we began to plan a trip to Diriamba, Nicaragua in September 2020. A team was quickly assembled and we set in motion the details necessary for our medical adventure. It wasn’t long into that process that the pandemic made itself known in Canada and around the world. On May 1, 2020 we had to cancel our plans to Nicaragua due to the uncertainty of the rest of the year.
Here we are half way through 2021. What happened to our dream? Well, the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams… right? Within our dream exists an element of faith that sees the invisible; faith that believes the incredible; faith that receives the impossible. Our dream is still alive and by faith we walk toward the impossible.
