As we are all aware of the continuing humanitarian crisis in the midst of war in Ukraine, many are looking for small things they can do to help make a difference. Andrew, a Peterborough Paramedic has taken the initiative to extend a medical supply drive, run by PLAST Toronto (a Ukrainian Youth Organization) and “Help Us Help” (a charity organization), throughout the City of Peterborough. He is still looking for donations of ANY medical supplies (bandages, gauze, alcohol, tourniquets, splints, goggles, masks, etc), medications (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, ASA, Imodium, gravol, etc), warm clothes and blankets (esp. socks, thermal underwear, wool blankets), and even used camping gear (sleeping bags/pads, tents, candles, water purification tablets, etc), that will be taken to Toronto and sent in a shipping container to Ukraine (through Poland). Peterborough Paramedics & Beyond was able to supply Andrew with first aid supplies we had in storage. It is a great feeling to know we were able to help, in a small way, with the medical needs of the Ukrainian people.
Over the next couple of weeks donations of supplies may be dropped off in the lobby at 310 Armour Rd (Peterborough Paramedic Base). Information and cash donations can be made directly to https://helpushelp.charity/.
